APPLICANTS MUST USE NGB 34-1 WITH DETAILED EXPERIENCE AND RIP ATTACHED WHEN APPLYING REQUIREMENTS: Tour lengths may be from one to six years under the provisions of Section 502f, Title 32 US Code. Tours may not extend beyond an enlisted member's Expiration Term of Service (ETS) or an officer's mandatory separation date (MSD). Individual must project a favorable military image. Compliance with AFI 36-2903 and ANG weight standards is mandatory. Individuals must have a current physical, within 36 months of entry date; an AF Form 895 must be completed if the physical is more than 6 months old; and an HIV test must be completed six months prior to the tour start date. The State Air Surgeon will determine and approve those physically qualified. QUALIFICATIONS: Described in AFMAN 36-2108 or AFMAN 36-2105.

DUTIES: This position is located in the Vehicle Maintenance Section of the Transportation Branch. The purpose of this position is to maintain, repair and modify heavy duty vehicles and mobile equipment, including, but not limited to, materiel handling, fire fighting and base maintenance and refueling systems.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training which demonstrates the candidate's ability to repair, overhaul, and rebuild heavy mobile systems and vehicles. Must have the ability to interpret technical manuals, illustrations, specifications, diagrams, schematics and similar guides to make repairs and modifications. Must be skilled in the use of diagnostic and test equipment to determine mechanical problems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: (WG-10) - 18 months experience in which the applicant demonstrates: 1. Experience in repairing, rebuilding and overhauling systems and major components of heavy mobile equipment. 2. Experience in diagnosing malfunctions and determining remedy where complex relationships exists among different mechanical systems, requiring knowledge of units and systems with possible damage to equipment if incorrectly handled. 3. Experience in making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring equipment and common hand tools. Examples of tools used are micrometers, vernier calipers, dial indicators, wrenches and screwdrivers. 4. Experience in using diagnostic and testing equipment such as digital multimeters and engine analyzers. 5. Experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications and publications.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): WG-10 1. Knowledge of and skill in repairing, overhauling and rebuilding major assemblies and systems of heavy mobile equipment. 2. Ability to troubleshoot complex malfunctions requiring knowledge of the interaction of several subsystems. 3. Skill in use of hand tools and precision measuring equipment. 4. Skill in use of diagnostic and test equipment. 5. Ability to interpret technical manuals, illustrations, specifications, diagrams and schematics to make repairs and modifications.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must have a valid State Driver's License. SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION: NOTE: College Transcripts are required if you wish to use Education as a substitution for experience or if a degree is a requirement for the position. A copy of the transcript must be submitted with the Job Application. Study successfully completed in a college, university, technical or vocational school may be substituted for experience at the rate of one year of study (30 semester hours or 20 classroom hours of instruction per week for 6 months of experience). Maximum credit is 6 months of specialized experience. Courses must be directly related to the work of the position
APPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCEDURES: 1. All interested members may apply by submitting a completed NGB Form 34-1 and a recent RIP, which can be obtained from the Military Personnel Office, at your unit. Due to manning restrictions, positions will not be filled if funding/resource are not available. ENSURE JOB NUMBER IS ENTERED ON NGB 34-1; RIP ATTACHED 2. Selection will be made without regard to race, religion, color, sex, national origin, political affiliation, age or marital status. Eligibility of Guards women must be consistent with existing assignment policies.
3. Selection will be made from those applicants determined best qualified in terms of experience, training and demonstrated performance ability. Simultaneous announcements will be staffed against technician position description criteria. Ensure all prior experience with inclusive dates is annotated in detail when applying.
4. Requirements for entry into the AGR program require the applicant candidate to possess an AFSC compatible with the advertised position requirement. If there are no qualified applicants or only a single qualified applicant, applicants for entry into the AGR program who could qualify under the re-training requirements of paragraph 3-7, ANGI 36-101, will be included on the certificate to be forwarded to the selecting official. If there are no qualified applicants (individuals holding the AFSC), all conditionally qualified applicants will be included on the certificate of eligibility without regard to whether the applicant is current Ohio AGR or seeking entry into the AGR program. All applicants will be identified as “conditionally qualified.”
5. Individual selected for an AGR Tour must have sufficient retainability to complete 20 years of active duty prior to his/her mandatory separation date, (MSD) officer, age 60 for enlisted. Must be able to serve at least 5 consecutive years in the AGR program prior to eligibility for military non-disability retirement or retainer pay. Military technicians who are eligible for or are receiving a civil service annuity may not change to military duty status. Applicants receiving or eligible to immediately receive a federal retirement annuity and a state annuity for service as National Guard technicians are not eligible for entry on an AGR tour.
6. Overgraded ENLISTED must state in writing or on your application that you are willing to take an administrative reduction to the advertised pay grade. Request must be included with your application
7. Full-time military members accepting a position as an Active Guard Reserve (AGR) must remain in that position for a minimum period of twelve (12) months. Accepting an initial or subsequent tour of active duty in the AGR program incurs an obligation on the member’s part to remain in that position for a sufficient period of time. AGOH-AIR/DP and HRO-AGR Office Manager will consider waivers. Waiver may be approved in exceptional circumstances by ANG/MPPMP.
8. Pregnant females are eligible to apply for AGR tours. Individuals selected for AGR tours must meet all applicable medical and physical requirements in accordance with AFI 48-123 prior to entering or initiating the tour. If selected, they cannot be appointed and entered on active duty until the pregnancy period has expired.
