AREA OF CONSIDERATION: ALL QUALIFIED APPLICANTS who are current Military Members of the Ohio Army National Guard. NOTE: IF YOU ARE AN AGR AND ARE SELECTED FOR THIS POSITION, YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO VACATE YOUR AGR STATUS.
SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL BE ASSIGNED TO A COMPATIBLE MILITARY POSITION IN AN APPROPRIATE UNIT OF ASSIGNMENT IN THE OHIO NATIONAL GUARD, AS SHOWN BELOW.

THIS POSITION IS BEING ANNOUNCED IN ACCORDANCE WITH STATE MERIT PROMOTION PROCEDURES AND COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT. WEARING OF THE APPROPRIATE ARMY/AIR UNIFORM IS REQUIRED WHILE EMPLOYED IN THIS POSITION. PERMANENT CHANGE OF DUTY STATION (PCS) FUNDS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. DUE TO MANNING RESTRICTIONS, THIS POSITION WILL BE FILLED WHEN MANNING AND FUNDING BECOME AVAILABLE.
DUTIES: The purpose of this position is to perform varied mail operations, which includes receiving, sorting, opening, controlling, routing, distribution, delivery, picking up and dispatching mail.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Clerical or office work, education or training which demonstrates that the candidate has the ability to perform satisfactorily at the grade level of the position.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: (GS-05) - 3 months experience in which the applicant demonstrates:
1. Experience working in a mail room, clerical or office work, which demonstrates the candidate has the ability to perform the duties.
2. Experience which has provided the candidate with a knowledge of organizational structure.
3. Experience in processing incoming, outgoing, and interoffice special category mail. Experience which demonstrates the candidate has operated equipment such as envelope opening and sealing machines, date stampers, binders, postage meters, etc.
4. Experience or knowledge of the handling and control of classified material.
5. Experience in which the applicant was required to log in material or information, or issue receipts.
6. Experience which demonstrates the candidate’s knowledge of filing procedures to perform alphabetical, numerical or chronological filing.
7. Experience which required applicant to communicate orally.
8. Valid state driver’s license.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): GS-05
1. Knowledge of sorting procedures.
2. Knowledge of mail routing symbols.
3. Ability to identify addresses and to sort mail accordingly.
4. Skill in operating mail room equipment..
5. Knowledge of the security of classified documents.
6. Ability to maintain logs and receipt books.
7. Knowledge of filing systems procedures.
8. Ability to communicate orally.
9. Ability to drive a motor vehicle.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION: NOTE: College Transcripts are required if you wish to use Education as a substitution for experience or if a degree is a requirement for the position. A copy of the transcript must be submitted with the Job Application. Study successfully completed in a college, university, technical or vocational school may be substituted for experience at the rate of one year of study (30 semester hours or 20 classroom hours of instruction per week) for 6 months of experience. Courses must be directly related to the work of the position.
