THIS POSITION IS BEING ANNOUNCED IN ACCORDANCE WITH STATE MERIT PROMOTION PROCEDURES AND COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT.  WEARING OF THE APPROPRIATE ARMY/AIR UNIFORM IS REQUIRED WHILE EMPLOYED IN THIS POSITION.  PERMANENT CHANGE OF DUTY STATION (PCS) FUNDS ARE  NOT AVAILABLE. DUE TO MANNING RESTRICTIONS, THIS POSITION WILL BE FILLED WHEN MANNING AND FUNDING BECOME AVAILABLE.

 

DUTIES: This position is located in the personnel and administrative section of a Battalion (Bn) or Squadron (Sqdrn) size headquarters of the Army National Guard (ARNG).  The purpose of the position is to oversee and ensure the accomplishment of work performed in the area of personnel management and administration.  The incumbent works under the direction of the Officer in Charge (OIC) and Personnel Officer.

 

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Clerical or administrative experience, education,  and/or training which has provided the candidate with the ability to search for and compile information/data, process documents , and provide, information about regulations, procedures, and programs.

 

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:  (GS-07) - 12 months experience in which the applicant demonstrated the following:

1. Experience in one or more areas of civilian personnel operations.

2.  Experience in personnel work in making person-to-person contacts to explain regulatory, procedural, and policy requirements.

3.     Experience in processing transactions of an unusually complicated nature, such as regulatory and procedural problems concerning

Reductions in force, grievances, classification appeals, etc.

4.        Experience preparing reports using data from various source documents and preparing reports according to prescribed guidelines.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs):  (GS-07)

1.  Skills in gathering information, data, and preparing reports.

2.  Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.

3.  Knowledge of basic rules, regulations and policies which govern performance of the work.

4.    Knowledge of government wide rules, regulations, laws, and policies governing the type of transactions being dealt with.

  

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION:  NOTE: College Transcripts are required if you wish to use Education as a substitution for experience or if a degree is a requirement for the position.  A copy of the transcript must be submitted with the Job Application. Study successfully completed in a college, university, technical or vocational school may be substituted for experience at the rate of one year of study (30 semester hours or 20 classroom hours of instruction per week for 6 months of experience).   Maximum credit is 6 months of specialized experience.  Courses must be directly related to the work of the position.
