The Adjutant General
Maj. Gen. Gregory L. Wayt assumed
the duties as the Adjutant General, Joint Force
Headquarters - Ohio on 1
July 2004. He is a member of the Governor's cabinet and is responsible for the operations
of the Adjutant General's Department and the military
preparedness of the Ohio Militia. The organized
militia consists of the Ohio Army National Guard, Ohio Air National Guard, Ohio Military Reserve, and Ohio Naval
Militia, totaling more than 16,000 personnel. He
supervises four flag officer heads of these components and
four deputy directors in the day-to-day operation
and management of the fiscal, personnel, equipment,
and real property resources of these military
organizations and state agencies.
Maj. Gen. Wayt’s career began in 1975. He was a
Distinguished Military Graduate from The Ohio State University ROTC
program and received a Regular Army commission in 1975 as an Air Defense
Artillery Officer. He has commanded and held staff officer assignments
at all levels from battery, battalion, group, regiment, brigade and
Joint Force Headquarters.
