A4A Applauds TSA for Record Thanksgiving

Travel Tips

Airlines for America (A4A) applauds the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for screening a record 3,133,924 travelers on Sunday Nov. 30.

The milestone comes as millions of Americans returned home from Thanksgiving celebrations. A4A forecasted U.S. airlines would carry more than 31 million passengers over the holiday travel period – an all-time high!

Eight of the top 10 busiest days in TSA history having occurred in 2025 alone. All of TSA’s 10 busiest days have seen more than 3 million people screened at checkpoints nationwide.

“We’re deeply appreciative of the hard-working men and women of the TSA who worked over the holiday to ensure millions of people could fly home for Thanksgiving,” said A4A President and CEO Chris Sununu. “U.S. airlines are proud to work in partnership with the TSA to ensure the safety and security of the traveling public and our skies.”

Looking ahead to the December holidays

With a strong Thanksgiving travel tailwind, U.S. airlines are gearing up for the busy Christmas and New Year’s travel period. Additionally, cargo carriers are prepping to make sure your packages arrive on time for the holiday season.

During the holiday season and with an uptick of deliveries, remember these tips:

  • Utilize tracking services, including those offered on carrier apps;
  • Order with ample time to ensure delivery on time;
  • Check shipping policies and delivery times;
  • Be mindful of shipping restrictions.

The holidays are also a great time to spread cheer and gratitude. A4A is excited for the return of our “Carry-on Kindness” campaign, reminding travelers to thank airline workers and help fellow passengers when they can this holiday season.
