KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture has announced that Brett Huebner will be joining UTIA as the associate vice chancellor of business and finance.

Huebner is no stranger to UT Knoxville. He currently serves as the senior associate athletics director for facility enhancement and capital project management, and during his nearly eleven-year career with UT has also served as the senior associate athletics director and chief financial officer. Prior to joining UT, Huebner was the senior associate athletics director and chief financial officer with the University of South Florida.

Huebner has extensive experience in finance, budgeting, accounting, strategic planning, procurement, forecasting, risk management, and capital projects. Through his work with the UT Athletics Department, he has developed a successful track record of handling large-scale projects and the financial leadership needed to produce impactful results. Most importantly, he has managed key organizational relationships throughout the university and is well-respected by team members and stakeholders for his collaborative style.

Huebner is also no stranger to agriculture. He grew up in Wisconsin where he experienced firsthand the life and work of agriculture on both sets of his grandparents’ dairy farms. Huebner says, “I am very excited about the opportunity to return to my roots, and I understand the amazing impacts agriculture and natural resources and UTIA have on the state of Tennessee and beyond. I look forward to being able to provide the financial leadership needed to carry out UTIA’s daily work.”

In a letter to faculty and staff announcing Huebner’s appointment, UTIA Senior Vice Chancellor and Senior Vice President Keith Carver wrote, “The institute is an outstanding organization improving people’s lives every single day. I am so looking forward to our future!”

Carver also extended his sincere appreciation to Ron Maples for his outstanding leadership serving as interim associate vice chancellor of business and finance during the search. Maples will continue serving in an advisory role for the remainder of the calendar year to assist Hueber in the transition to his new role.

Huebner holds a master’s degree in business administration from Florida Atlantic University and a bachelor’s in business administration–accounting from University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee.

He is expected to begin work at UTIA on November 11.
